FSC 8010 DSP Large
Format Color Scanner 36" 800 DPI Full COLOR Scanner
Includes IDEALScanOS for scanning and single field indexing for monochrome applications and plotting to multiple Xerox 8830s and Oce 9400s Large Format Color Scanner The IDEAL Full Scale COLOR Scanner FSC 8010 DSP provides affordable, high speed, very high resolution scanning for computer capture of wide format color originals, engineering or scientific documents for drawing conversion, CAD, archive storage and retrieval, or GIS applications demanding fine-line capture. The compact, desktop scanner can efficiently rasterize drawings up to 36 inches wide (E-Size), on 40 inch wide media, scanning drawings directly through standard SCSI interface on most PC computer types, AT/ISA or PCI. The IDEAL FSC 8010 DSP COLOR Scanner provides single color scanning with triple tri-linear CCDs including onboard real-time color correction, color classification/feature extraction, and compression of data. The FSC 8010 DSP can extract colors and patterns of colors into separate layers which can then be converted to vector files with I/Vector. Built-in to the FSC 8010 DSP COLOR Scanner is JetStream Power Accelerator which performs image capture, color mapping, and transfer directly to a standard Windows color inkjet plotter. Quality color calibration is vital in today's market and JetStream Power Accelerator performs closed loop color calibration matching the color copying process from scanning to plotting. The software will calibrate the colors according to the original ICC target profiles. One of the unique features of the IDEAL FSC 8010 DSP Color Scanner is that the same compact scanner provides capture of both color and monochrome scanned documents. Included with the FSC 8010 DSP is the IDEALScanOS scanning, single field indexing, and plotting software for monochrome applications including plotting to multiple Xerox 8830s, Oce 9400s, or any Windows plotter. The FSC 8010 DSP COLOR Scanner requires CADImage/Color, the operating software for color scanning. CADImage/Color supports 24 bit RGB color, 8 bit and 4 bit feature extracted or indexed color, 8 bit greytone and 1 bit black/white scanning. CADImage/Color provides easy to use tools to quickly create down-loadable Look Up Tables (LUTs) performing real time color feature extraction from maps, color schematics, or artwork. The FSC 8010 supports Area Diffusion Logic (ADL) which allows documents containing mixed photographic and line-art (including text) areas to be captured with greater detail. ADL determines what areas are photographic in nature on-the-fly, and uses diffusive dithering on these areas only. Line-art areas are captured using the proven 2-D Adaptive Thresholding method. This technology is imparitive for mixed media plotting. High Performance Scanning The FSC 8010 DSP offers the highest true resolution in its price class with selectable resolution in 1 dpi increments from 50 to 600 dpi and a physical resolution setting to match user application requirement and system storage capabilities. The FSC 8010 DSP scans drawings up to 36 inches wide, with length limited only by computer file size. Offering outstanding throughput, it scans a typical E-Size color original into industry standard formats in 48 seconds at 200 dpi. Excellent Scan Accuracy The FSC Scanners are very accurate, two-dimensional sampling devices; document motion is one axis, and electronic scan of the Charge Coupled Device (CCD) semiconductor cameras is the other. To maintain the excellent accuracy of +/-0.10%, the scanners are designed to closely control both. Prior to scanning, the scanner media drive can be calibrated in a range of +/-0.5% in 0.01% increments, by comparing the scan against a precisely known distance on the drawing. The superior media motion control technique is based on proven practice in large format copiers, synchronous drive of input/output roller sets, the medium held taut between them across a smooth glass vision area. This offers superior long document scans; even badly curled media can be easily handled by one operator. The compact optic path design offers easy top access to the CCD cameras for simple adjustment to maintain mechanical accuracy, and the FSC 8010 COLOR Scanner electronically stitches the images from the triple tri-linear 5,000 element cameras before each scan, which ensures accurate final alignment. Superior Pixel Processing The Digital Signal Processor (DSP) enhances images in real time. The unique two dimensional (2D) Adaptive Thresholding provides clean, crisp scans from poor quality drawings, on line without requiring a prescan, automatically adapting to compensate for varying background, faded areas and stains. Dynamic Thresholding sharpens edges, and Pixel Enhancement captures fine line detail by pixel thickening. Scan To Print/Color Copies CADImage/Color has built-in color copy software allowing any inkjet plotter to be connected to the scanner's host computer, serving as a fully functional large format color copier. CADImage/Color supports enlargement/reduction scaling from 1% to 400% with Autofit and printing 1-9999 number of copies. JetStream Power Acclerator supports closed loop color calibration enables color and image processing to occur in the scanner hardware, allowing simultaneous scanning and printing at higher throughput. Print directly to your color inkjet for color plotting or to the Xerox 8830, Oce 9400 (with an IDEAL 9400 print controller), or Windows plotter for monochrome plotting.
