Integrated Toolbar
eCabinet merges the convenience of Microsoft® Internet
Explorer® and Outlook® with our easy-to-use
file management system. You can now search for and retrieve
your stored email, drag and drop documents directly
into an eCabinet folder, personalize your documents
by assigning customer/case numbers for ID-based retrieval,
and create your own document summaries and notes, all
from Internet Explorer and Outlook toolbars.
User-Defined Folders
Arrange your files and folders according to what
makes sense to you. eCabinet has a hierarchical folder
structure that lets you nest folders together, creating
more inclusive folders with smaller sub-groups. Document
folder security is assured because you control who has
the read/write privileges, and retrieval is a snap when
you designate custom fields for filing. Regardless of
where you save it, you'll always find it.
Automatic Document Routing Rules
Rule-Based Capture Control lets you create unique
routing rules for each type of your networked peripherals,
so you can automatically assign captured documents to
an owner, group, or destination folder, add notes for
personalized retrieval, and make sure your documents
go where you want them to go.
Remote Office Support
Document distribution for remote offices and within
corporate workgroups is easier than ever. You can network
multiple eCabinets together using Data Replication,
providing both local and remote file access, ease in
document distribution and data aggregation, and a high
level of fault tolerance through document redundancy.
SEC-Compliant Backup
Because eCabinet's optional CD-R Media storage meets
document regulatory retention requirements for many
contract sensitive industries such as legal, real estate,
and finance, you'll find its ability to automatically
store and back up files makes eCabinet an ideal solution
for eliminating or reducing the hard copy storage of
important documents. You can even store large volumes
of data on jukeboxes that seamlessly integrate with
eCabinet.
International Versions
When you first install eCabinet onto your network,
you select both the appropriate voltage rating for your
country and the main language interface. Selections
include Dutch, German, English, UK English, French,
and Italian. Document database indexing, the browser-based
user interface, LCD display, and the date and time will
all correspond to both the language and conventions
of the country selected. (Available Fall, 2001)
Customized Document Retrieval
You can personalize document retrieval by entering
in your own summary and notes for the index to store.
You can also set up hierarchical folders, creating workgroup
folders with exclusive sub-groups. Folders even have
Custom Fields that ensure targeted searching
and retrieving is simple for everyone.
Disaster Recovery
If a catastrophic event at your workplace should
ever result in a complete loss of data or the destruction
of your eCabinet, our disaster recovery functionality
enables you to recreate your documents and index, so
you can quickly resume normal use and operations.
Customizable Environments (SDK)
An SDK toolkit is now
available for creation of various specialized software
applications for enhanced eCabinet functionality and
integration into specific customer situations. A customized
eCabinet SDK front-end allows end-users to access all
standard eCabinet user-based operations including file
capture, routing, archival, retrieval, and metadata
management, and also value-added features like data
replication and batch uploads for user and group control.

Web Browser User Interface
eCabinet's convenient Web browser interface is platform
independent, opens PC files automatically in their preferred
editor, and enables the distribution of documents by
the simple sharing of links, all from a familiar interface
that is so intuitive that you already know how to use
it.
Flexible Document Capture
eCabinet's flexible document capture allows it to
work with your networked peripherals to capture your
documents automatically or manually, letting
you decide which documents you want to
capture.
Accurate, Full-Text Retrieval
Intuitively find and retrieve captured files by
querying eCabinet's searchable index for automatically
indexed full-text content, keyword notes, source of
origin, date of capture, title, owner, and other related
information. You can also personalize the metadata with
your own notes to accommodate individual systems for
the filing and finding of documents.
Document Archiving
eCabinet's ability to intelligently archive your
documents enables it to accommodate even the most demanding
capture environment. Providing virtually limitless storage
by automatically backing up all captured documents to
any one or a combination of DVD*, encrypted, Internet-based
HTTP, on-site NFS, or SEC-compliant CD-R media, eCabinet
ensures that you'll always have access to all of your
business files at a moment's notice. *1000 Series

Security Orientation
eCabinet has 3-levels of built-in security to prevent
unauthorized access, including initial login, folder
access, and individual document protections. Only authorized
users with valid passwords are allowed to access eCabinet;
once logged in, they are allowed to view and retrieve
only the documents they own, group files (with permission),
or public documents. Files and folders can both be read/write
protected.
Easy Document Distribution
eCabinet makes the distribution of documents for
remote offices and within corporate workgroups easier
than ever before. You can simply file into a group-accessible
folder, exchange links to filed documents with other
authorized eCabinet users via email, or store document
links on your network file server; any method you choose
will let you save everything, find anything.
Fast Access to Information
Produce any document on demand
from anywhere
on your network. With easy document retrieval, you'll
find what you want when you want it by simply searching
a document's full-text content, date of capture, or
any combination of other helpful criteria. The convenient
QuickList Feature also shows the last 20 documents captured.
Multiple Search Views
Search results are available for viewing in a variety
of styles, each designed to display different key elements
of your documents. The List view presents a textual
list of your search results, the Stream view produces
a visually stacked stream of the documents, the Thumbnail
view provides a snapshot of each document in the search
results, and the Calendar view displays a date-oriented
synopsis of the results.
